formula_sae_pedal_box_design

University of Minnesota · Fusion 360, SolidWorks

While at the University of Minnesota, I was tasked with researching different designs for the gas and brake pedals of the Formula SAE team's race car. The pedals were constrained by the rules of the competition (2000N of force) and the specifications of our team's car (3:1 mechanical advantage). The design was also limited by manufacturability, as our team only had access to CNC and waterjet machining. I used generative design through Fusion 360 to inform my design, which I then refined for manufacturability in SolidWorks, achieving a weight reduction of 10%.
